What is the Community Car Service?
Our scheme offers door to door transport to people who are unable to use conventional public transport. We will organise for a volunteer driver to collect you from your home, using their own vehicle.

Am I eligible?
If you currently reside in the South Somerset area and are unable to access conventional means of transport then you will be eligible to use this service.

Where can I go?
We can take you to Medical Appointments, Dentists, Opticians, Chiropodists, and Shops or to visit friends or relatives. We can also arrange for you to visit friend or relatives in hospital.

How long will a driver wait?

Drivers will wait up to 90 minutes, longer waiting times are possible but subject to additional charge.
Voluntary driver & passenger
Voluntry driver & passenger How can I get involved?
All our drivers for this service are volunteers, using their own vehicle for which they are paid an expense rate of 40p per mile.

We are constantly in need of Volunteer Drivers to add to our team, for this highly valued and much needed community work. If you could spare just a few hours a week helping others then please call to arrange an informal chat.
